Fabric families
Cotton poplin
Medium weight, crisp, holds shape. To sew: easy.
Linen
Light to medium weight, somewhat stiff. To sew: easy to moderate.
Viscose / rayon
Light weight, very fluid, flowing. To sew: hard for beginners.
Satin
Light to medium weight, fluid with sheen. To sew: hard.
Jersey (knit)
Light to medium weight, soft, follows the body. To sew: moderate.
