Viscose / rayon
Viscose / rayon, very fluid, flowing, hard for beginners to sew.
| weight | light |
| drape | very fluid, flowing |
| stretch | none (woven), but distorts easily |
| to sew | hard for beginners |
Good for
- dress
- flowing skirts
- gathered styles
- draped tops
Not for
- skirt
- tailored or structured designs — too soft to hold the shape
- anything needing crisp pleats
Common mistakes
- Letting it hang off the cutting table — its own weight stretches it off grain
- Skipping staystitching, so necklines grow
- It is weaker when wet: wash gently
- Expect shrink/stretch unless treated
