Yellow shoulder-tie maxi

digital review passed · not sewn

A low curved waist seam and a skirt gathered at the sides, flat in the middle. Early drafts lost both; the engine learned zoned gathering.

Real EU36 pattern: long bodice front and back, gathered skirt front and back, tie.

What was wrong

What makes this dress itself is a long fitted bodice that ends in a low seam dipping at the centre front, and a wide skirt gathered at the sides but flat in the middle. Early drafts put the waist seam straight and high and gathered the skirt evenly all round, so they described a different dress. Two attempts were rejected for this.

The shared fix

The shared engine now lengthens the bodice, splits it along the low curve and attaches the skirt to that edge. Gathering became a zoned distribution: flat at the centre, full at the sides. The same distribution drives the drawing, the matching marks on the pattern and the sewing guide, so all three tell the same story.

The overview shows every piece with seam allowance and grain lines. It is not tiled for printing; the printable PDF package for this dress is not published yet.

Before you cut

Not sewn or fitted. The reading was corrected by hand. The back is not visible in the photo: the centre-back zip and seam are a proposed closure. The waist-to-hip line is a little sharper than in the photo.
